Felipe Pena added another submission win on Day 1 of the 2024 ADCC World Championships and advanced to the semifinals of the +99KG bracket hours before his Super Fight against Gordon Ryan. 

Pena submitted John Hansen on Aug. 17 in the quarterfinals after having defeated Brandon Reed in the first round. It was Pena's second submission win of the tournament.

Pena's day won't be done after that either. Pena will face the reigning Super Fight champion Gordon Ryan to end Day 1 at T-Mobile Arena in the first of two Super Fights this weekend. Pena is 2-1 all-time against Ryan, but lost the last they met in 2022.
