Yuri Simões is one of the best heavyweight grapplers in the world and has built one of the most impressive BJJ resumes since 2012.

On Aug. 18, Simões, 34, has a chance to add another line to that resume.

The defending 2022 ADCC World Absolute Champion defeated Nicholas Meregali in the final two years ago. That win set up a massive match against the 2019 ADCC Absolute champion, and the No. 1 ranked no-gi grappler in the world, Gordon Ryan, on Aug. 18 at the 2024 ADCC World Championships.

Simões and Ryan have met four times and Ryan is 4-0, including a submission win in 2017. But in 2018 at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championships, Ryan and Simões had two incredibly competitive matches and the two have not met since.

A three-time ADCC Champion, Simões is currently the No. 8-ranked grappler in the 205-pound no-gi weight class at FloGrappling.

Here’s a look at Simões all-time record.
