These divisions provide a path for older athletes to continue competing at high levels, ensuring age-appropriate challenges for anyone who wants it.
What are Masters Divisions?
Masters divisions are age-specific categories in grappling tournaments designed for competitors who are typically 30 years and older. They are structured to accommodate the unique needs and capabilities of older athletes, ensuring fair competition and reducing the risk of injury. Each Masters category is split up in five year increments.
Age Categories
Masters divisions are often broken down into several age groups:
- Masters 1: Ages 30-35
- Masters 2: Ages 36-40
- Masters 3: Ages 41-45
- Masters 4: Ages 46-50
- Masters 5: Ages 51-55
- Masters 6: Ages 56-60
- Masters 7: Ages 60+
Each age group competes within their bracket, ensuring that competitors face others with similar physical capabilities and experience levels.
