Notable grapplers Bia Mesquita and Damien Anderson both won their MMA fights this weekend with solid displays of jiu-jitsu transitioning to mixed martial arts. This marked Bia's MMA debut and the second fight for Damien, both of whom are undefeated.

Bia Mesquita, one of the most successful grapplers of all time, finally made her debut in MMA and won by first round submission - a rear naked choke. Bia is a 10-time IBJJF World Champion in the gi at the black belt level, and a 2017 ADCC World Champion. "Queen" Bia has been training with the American Top Team in Florida. Her fight came in Brazil at the Spaten Fight Night, which was headlined by Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

Damien "Demon Hands" Anderson pushed his MMA record to 2-0 with a rear naked choke finish of his own on Fury FC 92. The B-Team athlete has been focusing on MMA after a successful career in no-gi grappling and combat jiu-jitsu. Damien has become especially known for his ground and pound skills, able to transition between dominant positions as he lays in meaningful, impactful strikes.

When Is ADCC Worlds 2024 

The ADCC World Championships are Aug. 17-18 in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Center. The championship event will stream live on FloGrappling and the FloSports app.
