Victor Hugo was originally set to take on Luke Griffith of New Wave in a clash of Austin-based titans but now, with Griffith unable to continue with the match, Zaruski steps in on just a little over a week's notice to accept the bout. Victor is a former IBJJF Open Class Champion who has spent 2024 dedicated to no-gi. He won the main event of WNO 23 in a decision against Nick Rodriguez.
Zaruski is the 2023 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion at black belt super-heavy, where he submitted former ADCC World silver medalist Vinicius 'Trator' with a triangle. With the performance, he became the first athlete from Uruguay to win a black belt world championship of any kind.
