Day 1 of the IBJJF Worlds 2024 Championships began with Cassia Remesar winning the first crown in the Adult Brown Belt Featherweight Class and the action never stopped. 

For more than 10 hours, athletes in Blue, Brown and even Purple belts battled it out for the first IBJJF championships of the week.

There were submissions, oh so many submissions, an endless line of takedowns, holds and scrambles as male and female athletes grappled. 

The championships moves to Day 2 with action beginning on FloGrappling and the FloSports app at 12:30 p.m. May 31's schedule includes juvenile belts as well as more purple and brown belts. 

IBJJF Worlds ends with the Black Belt finals on June 2.

The Open Weight Categories

IBJJF competitions feature open classes, sometimes called absolute divisions. These divisions, open to competitors in the blue, purple, brown and black belt ranks, allow athletes from different weight categories to compete together. The winner of this division is called the absolute champion.
