Here Are The All-Time Heavyweight Champions At IBJJF Worlds
List of all the IBJJF Heavyweight class winners since 1996 at IBJJF Worlds including Men's and Women's divisions.
The 2024 World Jiu-Jitsu IBBJF World Championships are May 29-June 2, so it's time to recap all of the past winners in all of the weight classes.
After looking at the all-time Middle Heavyweight class winners, next up it's the Heavyweight class, which includes some heavy hitters in this division like recent WNO 23 Champion Nicholas Meregali, Felipe Pena and Kaynan Durate.

IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 1996,1997, 2000, 2001: Fabio Gurgel
Gurgel is a four-time IBJJF World Champion. He won four of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division and won all four of them back-to-back a couple years apart. Gurgel also won one Brazilian National Champion the same year of his first IBJJF Worlds title.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 1998: Saulo Ribeiro
Ribeiro is a five-time IBJJF World Champion. He won one of his titles in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 1999: Murilo Bustamante
This is Bustamante's first and only IBJJF World Championship title. That same year he won the Brazillian National Championship in the open weight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2002: Fabio Leopoldo
This is Leopoldo first and only IBJJF World Championship title. The year before his IBJJF Worlds title he won the Brazilian National Championship.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2003: Jefferson Moura
This is Moura's first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He is a three-time Brazillian National Champion.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2015: Alexandre Ribeiro
Ribeiro is a five-time IBJJF World Champion. He earned all of his IBJJF Worlds titles in the Heavyweight division. Ribeiro is also a two-time ADCC World Champion.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2005: Robert Drysdale
This is Drysdale's first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He is one of the few non-Brazillians to win in the Heavyweight division. Drysdale also won an ADCC World Championship in 2007.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2009: Braulio Estima
Estima is a three-time IBJJF World Champion. He won one of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division. The same year he won in the Heavyweight division he won the ADCC Championship.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2010: Bernardo Faria
Faria is a three-time IBJJF World Champion. He only won one of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division. He is also a three-time IBJJF Pans World Champion.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2011, 2012, 2013: Rodolfo Viera
Viera is a four-time IBJJF World Champion. He won three of his IBJJF Worlds titles in the Heavyweight division and back-to-back. He also won the ADCC World Championship in 2015.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2014 and 2016: Andre Galvao
Galvao is a five-time IBJJF World Champion. He won two of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division. Galvao also won an ADCC Championship in 2011.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2017: Nicholas Meregali
Meregali is a three-time IBJJF World Champion. He won his first IBJJF Worlds title in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2018: Felipe Pena
Pena is a two-time IBJJF World champion. He only won one of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2019: Leandro Lo
Since Lo is an eight-time IBJJF World Champion it makes sense that we countue to see his name over and over again. He only won one of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2021 and 2022 : Kaynan Duarte
Duarte is a two-time IBJJF World Champion. He won both of his IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division. Duarte also is a two-time ADCC Champion.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2023: Felipe Andrew
This is Andrew’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He is also a four-time IBJJF Pans World Champion and the current IBJJF Pans World Champion. Andrew is the current IBJJF World Champion and looks to defend his title at the 2024 IBJJF World Championship.

This is Dos Santo first and only IBJJF World Championship title.

Correa is a two-time IBJJF World Champion. She won all of her IBJJF World titles in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2015: Dominyk Obelenyte
Obelenyte is a two-time IBJJF World Champion. Obelenyte won her first IBJJF Worlds title when she was just 14 years-old, becoming one of the youngest champions in the sport of Jiu-Jitsu. She also won it in the Heavyweight division.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2016: Fernanda Mazzelli
Mazzelli is a three time IBJJF World Champion. She won one of her titles in the Heavyweight division. She also won the 2012 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship.
IBJJF Heavyweight Champion In 2017: Claudia Do Val
Do Val is a four-time IBJJF World Champion. She won her first IBJJF World title in the Heavyweight division.

De Jesus is a three-time IBJJF World Champion. She won two of her IBJJF Worlds titles in the Heavyweight division.

Cueto is a two-time IBJJF World Champion. She won both of her IBJJF titles in the Heavyweight division. Cueto is the current champion and looks to defend her title at the 2024 IBJJF World Championship.

This is Dias first and only IBJJF World Championship title. She also won the 2023 IBJJF Pans Championship.
