Here Are The All-Time Featherweight Champions At IBJJF Worlds
List of all the IBJJF Featherweight class winners since 1996 at IBJJF Worlds including Men's and Women's divisions.
The 2024 World Jiu-Jitsu IBBJF World Championships are May 29-June 2, so it's time to recap all of the past winners in all of the weight classes.
After looking at the all-time Light featherweight class winners, next up is the weight class known for being light and agile. It’s the Featherweight class.

There are winners in this division that come from many different countries rather than just Brazil or USA. There are winners from France and more. Here are all the winners in the Featherweight division since 1996 at IBJJF Worlds.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 1996,1997,1998,1999: Royler Gracie
Gracie won four straight IBJJF Worlds titles, which dubbed him the name,“King of BJJ’s Featherweight Division.” After his success in the IBJJF World Champion, he won three-straight ADCC Championships.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2000: BJ Penn
This was Penn's first and only IBBJF World Championship title, but it was very important since he was the first American ever to win in the Featherweight division. After winning the IBJJF title he focused on competing in MMA.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2001, 2002, 2005: Fredson Paixao
Paixao's only IBJJF Worlds titles came in the Featherweight category. He won two of his IBBJF titles back-to-back and one a couple years later. Paixao won five CBJJ Brazilian Nationals.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2003 and 2004: Mario Reis
Reis has only won two IBJJF titles which were back-to-back. He also won bronze five times and three silver at the IBJJF World Championships.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2006, 2007,2008,2009,2017: Rubens Charles
Charles is a five-time IBJJF World Champion. All of his IBJJF titles came for the Featherweight divisions. Charles earned the nickname “Capoeira,” which means little snake since he was so agile and flexible. He is also a four-time IBJJF World No-Gi Champion and a four-time IBJJF Pans Champion.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2010, 2011,2012, 2014, 2015, 2016: Rafael Mendes
Mendes is a six-time IBJJF World Champion. He won all of his IBJJF titles in a row and in the Featherweight. Before he won his first IBJJF title he won an ADCC World Championship. He would win another ADCC World Championship in 2011.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2018: Shane Jamil Hill-Taylor
This was Taylor’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He became the second American male to win in the Featherweight division. He did win a silver medal at the 2021 IBJJF World Championship. That same year he won the IBJJF Pans Championship.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2019: Matheus Gabriel
This was Gabriel’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. The same year he won his IBJJF Worlds title he won the IBJJF Pans Championship.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2021: Fabricio Andrey
This was Andrey’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He also won bronze at the IBJJF World Championships in 2023. In that same year he won the IBJJF European open title in the Featherweight division.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2022: Isaac Doederlein
This was Doederlein's first and only IBJJF World Championship title. He was just the third American to win the Featherweight division. He is coached by five-time IBJJF Champion Rubens Charles.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2023: Samuel Nagai
This is Nagai’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. The year before winning his IBJJF title he won bronze at the 2023 IBJJF World Championships. He is the reigning champion and looks to defend his title at the 2024 IBJJF World Championship.
Women’s Featherweight IBJJF Weight Class Champions
Here are all of the Featherweight women’s winners. IBJJF has had the Feather Women's weight class since 2000.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2000,2002, 2006: Leticia Ribeiro
Ribeiro is a seven-time IBJJF World Champion. She earned three of her IBJJF World titles in the Featherweight class.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2001, 2004, 2005,2008, 2009,2010: Bianca Andrade
Andrade is a six-time IBJJF World Champion. She earned all of her IBJJF titles in the Featherweight division.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2003: Andrezza Pinho
This is Pinho’s first and only IBJJF World Champion title.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2007: Laurence Cousins
This is Cousin's first and only IBJJF World Champion title. A year later Cousins got a silver medal at the IBJJF World Championship. She was the first French winner in the Featherweight.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2011, 2012, 2014: Michele Nicolini
Nicolini won two of her IBJJF Featherweight titles back-to-back in 2011 and 2012. Then she won another IBJJF Worlds title a few years later. In 2013 she won the ADCC World Championship.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2013: Miriana Ribeiro
This is Ribeiro's first and only IBJJF World Championships title. She also won a Brazilian National Championship in 2011. She made black belt in just four years and trained under Ricardo Vieira.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2015 and 2016: Mackenzie Dern
Dern won her only IBJJF World Championship titles back-to-back. She is the only American woman to win an IBJJF Worlds title in the Featherweight division. The same year Dern won her IBJJF Worlds title, she won an IBJJF Pans World title and then won again in 2016.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2017: Maxine Thylin
This is Thylin’s first and only IBJJF World Champion title. She is the first and only Swedish person to win an IBJJF Worlds title in the Featherweight divisions.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2018: Karen Antunes
This is Antunes’s first and only IBJJF World Championship title. The same year she won an IBJJF Pans American Champion. A few years earlier in 2015 she won the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2019: Ana Carolina Schmitt
This is Schmitt’s first and only IBJJF World Champion title.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2021: Gabi McComb
This is McComb’s first and only IBJJF World Champion title. Last year she won the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship in the Featherweight division.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2022 and 2023: Bianca Basilio
Basilio won her only IBJJF Worlds titles back-to-back. She is also a three-time IBJJF Pans Champion. Basilio looks to defend her Featherweight title at the 2024 IBJJF World Championships.
IBJJF Featherweight Champion In 2024: NATHALIE WAN SOARES VERAS RIBEIRO
This is Ribeiro fist and only IBJJF World Championship title.
