Nicholas Meregali Headlines WNO 23. Here's How He's Done At Past WNOs
Nicholas Meregali vs. Vagner Rocha is the headline match at WNO 23 in Arlington, Texas. Meregali has been at WNO before. Here's how he's done.
Nicholas Meregali, or the Mounted Triangle as he is often called, began competing in jiu-jitsu at 16 and on May 10 the Brazilian superstar will return to the WNO stage.
Meregali is currently fourth in the No-Gi grappling rankings at FloGrappling and is first in the Gi rankings. He usually competes in heavyweight, ultra heavyweight and Absolute divisions, and he's a 5-time IBJJF World Champion.
His match with Vagner Rocha will be his third WNO headlining match in the last year. Meregali has won twice in 2023 at WNO 18 and 19.

WNO 19: Nicholas Meregali Vs. Kaynan Duarte
This was Meregali's second time headlining a WNO, where he faced Kaynan Duarte in a heavyweight match. This match took a little longer than his past matches, and lasted 13 minutes. Meregali successfully got the win using a Katagatame.
WNO 18: Nicholas Meregali Vs. Pedro Marinho
Meregali headlined the second WNO of 2023 and went against current light heavyweight champion Pedro Marinho and won in just over six minutes. After almost getting thrown on his back he was able to recover and take charge of the match and win using a mounted triangle.
WNO 13: Nicholas Meregali Vs. Arnaldo Maidana
Meregali debuted in the no-gi competition in 2022. When he faced Arnaldo Maidana in a heavyweight match, he won after about 15 minutes of Maidana and Meregali going back and forth. Meregali won using an armbar.
WNO: Who's Next Finale: Nicholas Meregali Vs. Baylor Grout
At the WNO: Who's Next Finale in 2022, he faced Baylor Grout. Meregali was able to win this match in about 13 minutes using a Katagatame.
WNO 1: Nicholas Meregali Vs. Victor Hugo
Meregali was there for the first-ever WNO back in 2020 and faced off against Victor Hugo who has also become a big name in grappling. This match was considered an upset when Hugo beat Meregali by decision and points.
How Many IBJJF World Championhips Has Nicholas Meregali Won?
Meregali has won three black belt IBJJF World titles, including and absolute title in 2022, and weight category titles in 2017 and 2019. As a colored belt, Meregali won every IBJJF Championship match he's entered at purple belt. He's also won two double-gold world titles in brown belt.
Has Nicholas Meregali Won An ADCC Championship?
No, Meregali has not won a gold at the ADCC Championship, but he has won a bronze in -99kg and silver in Absolute divisions at the ADCC Championship 2022.
