ADCC Announces Addition Of Women's Absolute Bracket For Worlds
ADCC Head Organizer Mo Jassim has announced the addition of a women's open class at the 2024 ADCC World Championships
ADCC Head Organizer Mo Jassim has announced the addition of a women's open class at the 2024 ADCC World Championships. This year's Worlds was already going to see an expansion from two weight classes to three, and now the absolute bracket adds another division for the professional women's grapplers to showcase their skills on the biggest stage in the sport.
The absolute (or open class) division is an open weight bracket where grapplers from any division can enter for a chance at supremacy. The ADCC has had a women's absolute in the past, the first two years they had women's divisions in 2005 & 2007, but it was previously discontinued.
The ADCC's men's divisions typically offer higher prize money for the absolute compared to the weight classes, but it remains to be seen what will happen here.
