Mica Galvão Enters IBJJF Brasileiros At Middleweight
Mica Galvão has entered his name into the middleweight division at the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals in his quest to win the 2024 Super Grand Slam.
Mica Galvão will attempt to continue his 2024 IBJJF Grand Slam as he has entered the Brasileiros, going down April 20th-28th in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mica has won the European and Pan Championships at black belt middleweight this year - but there were questions about his ability to compete after a recent lower leg injury.

At the 2024 Pan Championships, Mica was caught early in a straight ankle lock by Alehander Mariano and suffered an unknown amount of ligament damage. Though he was able to power through for gold, submitting Andy Murasaki in the finals, he was forced to withdraw from a planned title defense of his WNO welterweight championship. His health will be a big unknown coming into the event.
Mica's goal for 2024 is very high, as he has previously announced plans to pursue the Super Grand Slam - meaning winning gold at all 4 IBJJF majors plus the ADCC World Championships. The only other person to have completed this was Cobrinha in 2017 - and Cobrinha's son Kennedy is also in pursuit of this accolade having won Euro and Pan gold this year.
