Janaina Lebre Joins AOJ & Starts 2024 Season Under The Mendes Brothers
Moving on from Gracie Humaitá, the black belt joins the Art of Jiu-Jitsu roster ahead of the 2024 IBJJF season.
With a few months to go before the IBJJF Pans & Worlds, the Art of Jiu-Jitsu team has announced another big name that will be joining their already stacked roster and bolstering their strength ahead of the 2024 IBJJF season. Janaina Lebre and AOJ announced via Instagram that Lebre would be joining the team based in Costa Mesa, California.
A lightweight black belt formerly from Gracie Humaitá, under the tutelage of professor Régis Lebre, Janaína Lebre was the runner-up in last year's Worlds and was also the champion in the first women's IBJJF GP, going through Luiza Monteiro and Anna Rodrigues to take the title. Add these to both of her superfight victories at the IBJJF GP and it's easy to understand how well-equipped she is to strengthen the Costa Mesa team.
This is only the latest of AOJ's high-profile athlete signings, as the team has been investing heavily in hiring top-tiered athletes ahead of this year's Worlds. Apart from Tainan Dalpra and Johnatha Alves, both originally from AOJ, their roster currently has Thalison Soares, Diego Pato, Mayssa Bastos, Margot Ciccarelli, the newly-hired Gutemberg Pereira, and other powerhouses that occupy the Mendes brothers' white mats.
