4 World Champions Set To Collide At The Crown's Women's Heavyweight
Four world champions will collide at the IBJJF's The Crown heavyweight division, featuring Gabi Pessanha, Nathiely de Jesus, Amy Campo, and Melissa Cueto.
With a little over a month until the debut of the prestigious gi event, IBJJF's The Crown, the federation has announced the four competitors who will be competing in the women's super-heavyweight division. All four have won an IBJJF black belt World Championship in the past.
The four athletes who will be vying for The Crown are:
- Gabi Pessanha, 6-time IBJJF World Champion
- Amy Campo, IBJJF World Champion
- Melissa Cueto, 2-time IBJJF World Champion
- Nathiely de Jesus, 4-time IBJJF World Champion
These 4 champions will be competing in the super-heavyweight class, with no weight limit. The favorite coming into this tournament, and any tournament she enters right now, is Gabi Pessanha - who has won double gold at every Worlds since she became a black belt.
The Crown is the IBJJF's new premier event, debuting in 2023, where they will run only 6 divisions with invited athletes. Those black belts are the best of the best, and whoever wins will earn not only $15,000 but also their rightful claim to being one of the best pound-for-pound on Earth.
Tune in on Nov. 19 where all the action will be streamed live exclusively on FloGrappling.
