The organizers of AIGA have announced details about the 2024 season, including a major one million dollar grand prize for the champion team. This will mark the single largest payout for a team grappling event of this nature in history, a huge accomplishment for the new promotion.
Based out of Kazakhstan, AIGA is an ADCC-influenced team grappling series that will be holding their 2023 finals in December on FloGrappling. Our first event with them saw the final two teams, Team Modolfo and Universal Fighters, qualify after an exciting dual meet-style competition. Now, AIGA is already loading up for next season.
According to event organizers, the 2024 season will see the winning team win $1,000,000 USD to be split among the teammates. The finals will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the nation's largest city, with the 2023 champions automatically qualifying. They will be joined by whoever advances out of the qualifying trials events, set to be held in Istanbul, Sao Paolo, Shanghai, and Austin, TX. The number of teams involved overall is also expected to increase.
AIGA is already proving itself as a magnet for elite grappling talent, with hybrid rules encouraging athletes from various disciplines to compete. Now, with increased opportunity and bigger prizes, the 2024 season is shaping up to be even greater.
