AIGA is perhaps the fastest growing grappling company on Earth and its newest season of team-on-team action has drawn interest from some of grappling's biggest names - including ADCC head organizer Mo Jassim. Mo has assembled a team of ADCC all-stars that are set to face off with some of the toughest athletes in the region when they compete in the AIGA quarterfinals August 19th-20th.

Over those two days, the four teams remaining in the quarterfinals will face off in round robin action. The matches span seven weight classes, each match consisting of three 5-minute rounds (similar to MMA), with ADCC scoring in effect. The top two performing teams will advance to the finals in December for the championship event.

With AIGA growing so fast as a premier grappling event in Eurasia, it drew Mo's attention and he quickly assembled his team - and he loaded up with a crew that includes some of the world's top-ranked grapplers.

Meet Team Modolfo

60kg - Breno Peterson

This late replacement is a jiu-jitsu practitioner and Brazilian who was living and training in Kazakhstan. He has agreed to step up on late notice to fill in for athletes unable to compete.

65kg - Zach Kaina

The Hawaiian black belt Zach Kaina will also represent AOJ in Kazakhstan as he takes one of the lower weights for Modolfo. Zach does have plenty of no-gi experience, including a 2022 brown belt IBJJF No-Gi World Championship.

70kg - Gabriel Sousa

The ADCC -66kg finalist, Gabriel Sousa will be one of the toughest on all of Team Modolfo, with an extensive background of success at elite levels. Sousa is currently ranked No.2 at 145lbs and No.4 at 155lbs.

70kg - Fabricio Andrey

Fabricio Andrey, another ADCC Trials champion, has had success in the gi this year and now turns his attention to no-gi. The new Alliance representative is ranked No.4 at 145lbs.

76kg - Dante Leon

Dante Leon is the newly ranked No.1 grappler in the world at 155lbs and WNO Lightweight Champion. Dante is also ranked top-3 at 170 and an IBJJF No-Gi World Champion & ADCC World Championships medalist.

83kg - Izaak Michell

Izaak is another rising star on the team and the inaugural WNX Champion. The ADCC Oceania Trials winner also won the award for most exciting fight at the 2022 ADCC World Championships and is currently ranked as the No.8 middleweight.

91kg - Giancarlo Bodoni

The team captain and ADCC -88kg champion is one of the most impressive on the roster, after making his name by winning the ADCC World Championship with submissions over Matheus Diniz and Hulk Barbosa. The New Wave Jiu-Jitsu athlete most recently won the ADCC Dallas Open after a short-notice entry. He is ranked No.2 in the 205lb FloGrappling rankings.

+91kg - Luke Griffith

Luke Griffith is a rising star for Team New Wave and a top-15 ranked heavyweight. The South African grappler competed at the 2022 ADCC World Championships after winning trials to qualify.

+91kg - John Hansen

John Hansen is a multiple-time ADCC World Championships veteran who will help anchor the team at heavyweight, with an imposing, hulking figure that few grapplers can match.
