Haisam Rida returns to WNO and has one of the toughest test of the night at WNO 19. 

Rida, who competed at two WNO events in 2022, faces previous 2023 WNO headliner Felipe Pena on the main card of Tezos WNO: Meregali vs. Duarte on Aug. 10 in Austin at the Palmer Center.

Rida competed at Tezos WNO: Ste-Marie vs Bastos and Tezos WNO: Ryan vs Couch in 2022, splitting the matches with a submission win over Elder Cruz and then losing by submission later that year to Luke Griffith

Pena, the 2017 ADCC absolute champion, was supposed to face with Gordon Ryan earlier this year, but due to Ryan's illness, faced Nicky Rodriguez instead in the first WNO event of the year. Pena beat Rodriguez. 

Rida and Pena's match is part of a loaded card on Aug, 10. 

The co-main events feature Nicholas Meregali and Kaynan Duarte in a heavyweight bout as well as WNO champion Ffion Davies in a title bout with Jasmine Rocha.  

Tezos WNO 19: Meregali vs. Duarte features a stacked card along with its main event, Nicholas Meregali facing Kaynan Duarte in a heavyweight bout.

Meregali made quick work of Pedro Marinho in the last WNO event in May, but now faces Duarte, the 2022 ADCC World Champion in the light heavyweight division. Duarte won gold in the super-heavyweight division at the 2023 IBJJF European Championships.

In the first round of the 2022 ADCC World Championships, Rida submitted ADCC legend Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, with an armbar.

It was named the best submission of the year by FloGrappling. 

FloGrappling's Trey Robinson called the submission "one of the most insane crowd moments I've ever heard."

Haisam Rida Is An IBJJF Medalist

Rida won the 2020 IBJJF American No-Gi Nationals and was a bronze medalist in the absolute division. 

Haisam Rida Has Traveled The World

Rida is from Ghana but lived much of his live in Tokyo, Japan before moving to Detroit in 2020 where he trained at Assembly Jiu-Jitsu. He now trains at the B-Team in Austin, TX.
