The ADCC World Championships is one of the most prestigious and most lucrative grappling tournaments in the world. ADCC takes place every two years to determine who are the greatest submission wrestlers on Earth. With five male divisions, three female divisions, a men's absolute division, and superfight title, ADCC features an incredible collection of grappling talent in one place, with big cash prizes for the champions and medalists.

Athletes can only qualify to compete at ADCC Worlds by winning one of the eight trials held around the worlds, or by receiving one of the few available invitations from tournament organizers. ADCC is an exclusive tournament which aims only ti feature the best of the best, and its large cash prizes help to encourage big names to enter and perform their best. Anyone can try to qualify for ADCC regardless of belt or even grappling style. The tournament is not exclusive to Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners.

The first place winner at ADCC in any of the men's weight classes, which feature 16 athletes, wins $10,000. Second place earns $5,000, third place earns $3,000, and fourth place earns $1,000. In the women's divisions, which feature only eight athletes, prize money drops to $6,000, $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively, for top-four placement.

The prize totals jump in the men's open weight absolute bracket — a division open to all competitors regardless of weight — takes places after the weight classes brackets have finished. Any athlete can sign up for the absolute, and the tournament organizers pick the 16 most capable and exciting athletes to take their shot at the gold medal - and the $40,000 prize that comes with it. Silver is worth $10,000, bronze $5,000, and fourth place nets $1,000. The absolute champion also becomes the number one contender to the super fight champion, the singular matchup at every ADCC to determine no.1 champion in the organization.

The winner of the  superfight also earn $40,000, and the loser will get $10,000. The winner also has an opportunity to defend his title in the following edition of ADCC.

Those are not the only payouts; performance bonuses are available to any athlete. After the conclusion of the event, the organizers award $1,400 for 'best fighter', 'best takedown', 'best fight of the competition', and 'fastest submission'. In total, $230,600 is on the line at the ADCC World Championships, with 105 total athletes all vying for supremacy.
