BJJ Stars To Hold Women's Heavyweight Grand Prix This September
BJJ Stars 11 will feature a women's heavyweight grand prix, where 8 of the best black belt women in the world will face off for over $20,000 in prize money.
This weekend, BJJ Stars announced that it will hold a women's heavyweight grand prix, with eight black belts vying for a $20,000 grand prize. BJJ Stars 11, coming to Brazil on September 9th, will also feature several super fights and is expected to include some of the biggest names in female jiu-jitsu in the grand prix.
No competitors are confirmed for the event yet, but 3-time open class champion Gabriela Pessanha has already alluded to her inclusion. Other potential names for the heavyweight bracket could include champions like Andressa Cintra, Nathieley de Jesus, Giovanna Jara, Ana Carolina Vieira, Mayara Custodio, Melissa Cueto, and Amy Campo.
BJJ Stars in the past has traditionally run 16-man brackets, but now focuses on just the top eight for its first women's division. More details, including athletes and brackets, are expected to follow soon.
