2023 Pans Champ Marcio Andre Withdraws From IBJJF Worlds With Injury
After an unfortunate injury in his preparation, Marcio Andre will be unable to compete at the 2023 IBJJF World Championships
After an incredible Cindarella run to the 2023 IBJJF Pan American Championship at featherweight, Marcio Andre has been forced to withdraw from the World Championships with an injury.
Andre announced his withdrawal via Instagram, a disappointing end to a successful return to competition. Andre defeated Joao Mendes, Israel Almeida, and Fabricio Andrey on his path to Pans gold, his first IBJJF major in five years. The featherweight division is expected to be one of the most competitive in the tournament, and now with the Pan Champion sitting out it will open up even more.
The weight will still feature tons of top-end talent, including Isaac Doederlein, Quexinho, Gabriel Sousa, Shane Jamil Hill-Taylor, Fabricio Andrey, Diego Sodre, Sam Nagai, Israel Almeida, and Alex Sodre - among other premier athletes currently registered.
