Jiu-jitsu has a new power couple. After months of speculation, Mackenzie Dern and Buchecha appeared to confirm long-discussed rumors that the two are an item over the weekend.

Dern took to Instagram on Sunday and posted a photo of them together in an intimate embrace on her Instastory. 

Rumors first started to circulate the two world champs were in a relationship earlier this year. They were seen dancing together during a residential jiu-jitsu camp on a cruise ship not long before Worlds. 


The two were known to be spending increasing amounts of time in the same cities as each other, with their international travel schedules curiously aligning. 

A huge clue came when Dern posted a short video to her Instagram story from a hotel balcony overlooking Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, with many followers and fans pointing on the similarity to Buchecha's own hotel room during his time in the city. 

If Dern and Buchecha indeed are an item, this makes them one of the biggest power couples ever seen in jiu-jitsu. Between them, they have a total of 16 world championship gold medals (11 gi, five no-gi).

So, the main question left now is do we call them?
