It looks like 2016 is set to be a big year for jiu-jitsu, as the Abu Dhabi World Pro has announced that their upcoming 10-day tournament will feature a record-breaking number of competitors. 

In an announcement on Facebook, the UAEJJF said they expect more than 5,000 competitors from 100 countries to appear at the eighth edition of the Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

The year started big with a record-breaking event from the IBJJF in January, when the 2016 European Championships featured over 3500 competitors from 70 countries.
