The women's black belt No-Gi Worlds Black Belt finals went down early Sunday morning and saw high action, submissions, and great wrestling. Check out the full results below.
Paiti Fontes vs Livia Gluchowska - Light Feather
Pati Fontes took on Australian back belt Livia Gluchowska in the featherweight final. Fontes, already a 2x No-Gi World champion - dominated the match positionally early, and then ended the match with a vicious armlock. A great way to end the year for the Checkmat black belt who had a loss at No-Gi pans in October.
Talita Alencar vs Yasmin Wilson - Featherweight
Talita Alencar put in a monster performance today in the featherweight final, besting Roger Gracie back belt Yasmine Wilson 18-0. Alencar had a fully extended armbar at one point early in the match, and while Wilson was able to escape the submission, she was never able to come back in the match.
Heather Raftery vs Jena Bishop - Lightweight
For the first time ever, it was two American Women in the final at No-Gi Worlds! Heather Raftery had an incredible leg lock submission over Michelle Niocolni yesterday and Jena Bishop looked untouchable in her first match against Karen Antunes. Unfortunately for Raftery, Bishops momentum didn’t fade overnight, as she had a dominant win over the Atos black belt in the final, securing two sweeps and a pass in a 7-2 victory.
Catherine Fuhro vs Raquel Canuto - Middle Weight
The adult black belt middleweight final saw a great standup battle between Canuto and Fuhro. Canuto opened the match with a nice double leg but Fuhro was able to scramble back to her feet and secure a single leg takedown of her own. Canuto scored two more advantages for takedown attempts and was able to secure the win by two advantages.
