New York -- It was a busy weekend for Gianni Grippo. The day after his title-belt winning superfight against Osvaldo 'Queixinho' Moizinho on Fight To Win Pro 30 in New Jersey, the Alliance-Marcelo Garcia black belt competed at the IBJJF New York Spring International Open, winning double gold in the no-gi lightweight and absolute divisions.
Grippo outpointed João Paulo de Fatima Alves in the lightweight division. In the absolute division he submitted medium heavyweight Nicolas Penzer with a rear naked choke, and beat ultra heavyweight Aaron Johnson 8-0.
