Your essential Monday-morning digest – a quick look at the most notable moments from the jiu-jitsu world.
At the young age of 59, TV presenter and author Anthony Bourdain entered his first jiu-jitsu tournament.

Stepping onto the mat at the IBJJF New York Spring Open, Bourdain took gold in his division (blue belt, masters 5 middleweight) and very humbly posted, “First competition turned out okay!” Not bad, Mr Bourdain!
_______
Marcelo Garcia rep Dillon Danis went home with two gold medals from the NY Spring Open, closing out the middleweight category with teammate Marcos Tinoco and the open weight with close friend and training partner Mansher Khera. Danis, who made it to the final four in the Copa Podio Lightweight Grand Prix earlier this year, will be back in action for the Middleweight Grand Prix in July and the IBJJF Worlds before then.
_______
Channeling her inner-Ronda Rousey, Mackenzie Dern tapped out Rossie Show in the main event of Fight To Win 4. This isn’t the first time Dern has finished a match in less time than it takes to record an Instagram video. Don’t ever blink with this girl!

_______
UFC fighter-turned-TV analyst Kenny Florian’s return to jiu-jitsu didn’t quite live up to expectations as the one-time UFC title challenger lost his first match via points to silver medal winner Filipe Braga Costa of Soul Fighters. Florian competed in the black belt Masters 1 (30+) middleweight division.
Doubts linger over whether Florian should have gone on to win the bout though, with him posting the below video on his Instagram asking whether he should have gotten the 4 points for the back take. What do you think?
_______
Latest rumor is that Marcus Buchecha still hasn't signed a contract to appear on the recently announced Metmaoris card, where he was slated to rematch Roger Gracie.
Buchecha is reportedly unhappy with his likeness being used to advertise the event without having signed on the dotted line. Could this mean the main event is off? We'll update you as soon as we know.
